The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee
Founded in 1978, the Tennessee Chapter of The Nature Conservancy has become the largest and most effective conservation organization in the state. From the bottomlands of West Tennessee’s rivers to the high-elevation forests of the Smokies, we have saved more than 270,000 acres for people and nature. Along the way, we have also helped create or significantly expand 29 State Natural Areas, 10 State Wildlife Management Areas, and 2 National Wildlife Refuges in Tennessee. Globally, The Nature Conservancy works in all 50 states and more than 30 countries, and has protected more than 119 million acres around the world. Learn more at www.nature.org/tennessee.
