The Valentines

The Valentines – This is an R & B Group out of Nashville that surfaced in 1967 with the release of their single “Gotta Get Yourself Together” released on Sound Stage 7 Records which was John R’s label.   They resurfaced in 2005 for “The Night Train to Nashville” Lost Highway release of hit songs from 1945-1970 that won a Grammy and was part of The Night Train to Nashville Exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. After receiving standing ovations at the Hall of Fame for their performances, things for The Valentines changed again.

This denoted the acknowledgement of Nashville being an R & B town as well as a country town. Their producer Mac Gayden has been working with them since 1967 and had them singing background on his McGavock Gayden cd produced by Bob Dylan’s producer for “Blonde on Blonde”, Bob Johnston.

Mac Gayden who wrote and produced them from the first single, has just finished a new cd with The Valentines called “Old School Knew”, Mac wrote the R & B song “Everlasting Love”, and is doing a Documentary on R & B Music in Nashville including The Valentines.

Their performances are always exciting and tell a story of where they came from and who they are. Performing at Third and Lindsley on February 10th for their cd release show.
